MAP Group to introduce Subway Restaurant to Indonesia in Q4 2021

JAKARTA. PT MAP Boga Adiperkasa Tbk (MAPB), a food and beverage company under MAP Group, has signed the cooperation contract with Subway IP LLC to establish several stores in Indonesia come the fourth quarter of 2021

John Chidsey, Chief Executive Officer of Subway, believes Indonesian customers to have a quite high interest in Subway products. Thus, Chidsey sees the need to establish a partnership with a strategic company to support Subway’s global expansion.

“It is the first step towards our global expansion plan,” Chidsey confirms through a press release received by idnfinancials.com.

For the initial move, through one of its subsidiaries, PT Sari Sandwich Indonesia, MAPB would open several Subway stores in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek).

As additional information, the Subway fast-food chain has operated in over 100 countries and is spread across 40 thousand locations. On the other hand, as of June 2021, MAPB already established 590 stores in 33 cities across Indonesia. MAPB’s track record consists of introducing Starbucks, Pizza Marzano, Genki Sushi, Burger King, and Krispy Kreme to Indonesia. (KR/ZH)
