Indosat Ooredoo launches 5G service in Jakarta

JAKARTA - Indosat Ooredoo, Indonesia's leading digital telecommunications company, today announced the launch of commercial 5G services in Jakarta to support the 5G revolution in Indonesia and accelerate digital transformation and Jakarta's smart city vision.

The new 5G service will provide access to better mobile broadband Internet for Indosat Ooredoo's consumer and business customers, which will help accelerate Jakarta's economic recovery and support the industrial era 4.0.

5G offers high internet speeds and low latency and it empowers unique use cases that span all industries and apply to both business and consumer customers. Some of the most advanced use cases include connected cars and in-car entertainment services; smart surveillance technologies such as drones and smart CCTV; smart electricity that automatically detects faults in household circuits; health applications involving remote monitoring; and entertainment applications such as mobile HD videos, 360 videos and virtual reality.

The launch of Indosat Ooredoo's 5G service in Jakarta, which shows several use cases involving strategic partners such as Ericsson, Qualcomm, Indocyber, SONAR, Sari Technology x Gunadharma University, Bosch, and MPS.

To continue the 5G revolution in Indonesia, Indosat Ooredoo plans to expand the commercial rollout of 5G services to other major cities in Indonesia, including Surabaya and Makassar, where there is high consumer demand for data services. (LM)
