JAKARTA – PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) II is chosen as the state-owned port holding among the other three state-owned ports, including Pelindo I, Pelindo III, and Pelindo IV. The legal step to finalise the merger of these four state-owned ports would be incorporated in the Government Regulation.

In the information disclosure quoted on Thursday (2/9), the said plan is said to have obtained a presidential initiative permit from President Joko Widodo, announced by State Secretary in letter No.B-584/M/D-1/HK.02.02/08/2021. The merger of state-owned ports would be effective once the Ministry of Law and Human Rights sent its approval.

After this merger, Pelindo I, III, and IV would be dismissed without any liquidation processes. Furthermore, all of their obligations towards third parties would be reassigned to Pelindo II.

As additional information, Pelindo I is located in Medan, North Sumatra; Pelindo II is based in Jakarta; Pelindo III is in Surabaya, East Java; and Pelindo IV is headquartered in Makassar, South Sulawesi. (LK/ZH)
