Import activities rise 55.26% yoy

JAKARTA – Statistics Indonesia (lit. Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) reveals that the import value in August 2021 amounts to USD 16.68 billion, increasing 55.26% from USD 10.74 billion reported in August 2020.

In a press release issued today (15/9), oil and gas import rises to USD 2.05 billion from USD 0.95 billion. Similarly, non-oil and gas commodities import value also multiplies to USD 14.63 billion from USD 9.79 billion.

In comparison to July 2021, import activities this month show an increase of 10.35% from USD 15.11 billion to USD 16.68 billion. Specifically, the oil and gas sector grows from USD 1.78 billion to USD 2.05 billion, while the non-oil and gas sector climbs from USD 13.33 billion to USD 14.63 billion. In terms of non-oil and gas commodities, auxiliary and raw materials take up 74.20% of the total import value, amounting to USD 12.38 billion. Then, capital goods import follows with USD 2.41 billion along with consumption goods of USD 1.89 billion.

Most imported goods come from China, totalling USD 543.4 million, followed by Japan with USD 192 million, South Korea USD 132.3 billion, Ukraine USD 102.8 million, and Thailand USD 87.8 million. (LK/ZH)
