BRAM projected saving USD 750,000 from electricity expenses

27 September 2021 06:58

JAKARTA – PT Indo Kordsa Tbk (BRAM) estimated a cutback of its electricity costs of USD 750,000 per year following the energy-saving plan made with Sabanci DX, its affiliates under Sabanci Holding, Turkey. Additionally, BRAM had collaborated with the same company to optimise yarn production.

Reyvia Fitri, Corporate Secretary of Indo Kordsa, revealed that the electricity-saving would be implemented in the twisting tire cord fabric (TCF) facility 1 and 2. “The monthly electricity consumption in TCF 1 amounted to 1165 kWh per ton and 1752 kWh per ton in TCF 2, which were worth USD 0.08 per kWh each,” she continued, as quoted from the information disclosure earlier today (27/9).

Based on Fitri’s words, if BRAM decided to initiate the plan, it could reduce the electricity fees by USD 750,000. It would be equal to IDR 10.81 billion, assuming USD 1 is equivalent to IDR 14,424.

Furthermore, Sabanci DX research is expected to raise the first-grade yield (FGY) of the nylon yarn production from 95% to 97%. It is also intended to be able to minimise yarn damage in the spinning area and maintain the manufacture defects level of the yarn.

BRAM manufactures tire cord fabric from Nylon 66 yarn and High-Modulus Low-Shrinkage (HMLS) polyester yarn. As of December 2019, tire cord fabric production capacity amounted to 60 kilotons per year, while polyester and nylon productions reached 46 kilotons and 24 kilotons per year, respectively. (LK/ZH)
