Shell asks for Mastercard’s participation in cashless payment

12 October 2021 20:32

JAKARTA. PT Shell Indonesia announced its most recent partnership with Mastercard to provide the point-of-sale debit payment option in over 150 Shell gas stations.

Dian Andyasuri, Director of Mobility of Shell Indonesia, claimed that this collaboration was selected after noticing the increasing cashless payment trend in Indonesian consumers. In addition to that, cashless payment has become a popular alternative due to its security and practicality.

“We are glad to form a partnership with Mastercard to facilitate payment in Shell gas stations, and we hope this collaboration could elevate Shell users’ experience,” Andyasuri further stated her views through the official announcement made earlier today (12/10).

In order to increase cashless payment using Mastercard debit cards, Shell launched a discount promotion for gas fuel purchases made every Monday to Friday until December 10, 2021.

On the other hand, Navin Jain, Country Manager of Mastercard for Indonesia, agreed that digital and cashless payment had been popularly used by Indonesian customers. This digital and cashless payment adoption is also triggered by mobility restriction policies made during the COVID-19 pandemic across several cities.

“With various security features in Mastercard debit cards, the cardholders could perform transactions comfortably because every transaction is protected,” Jain promised. (KR/ZH)
