New credit channelling slows down in Q3 2021

JAKARTA – Bank Indonesia (BI) Survey shows that new credit channelling in Q3 2021 reached 20.9%, coming to stagnation from its report in Q2 2021 of 53.9%. However, the credit channelling is predicted to soar again in Q4 2021 following the credit relaxation policy.

Erwin Haryono, Executive Director and Head of Communication Department of BI, revealed that the credit distribution in Q3 2021 remained positive, albeit evidently slower than the previous period. “It was reflected from the Net Weighted Balance (SBT) of new credit demands. In terms of the sector, the highest credit distribution was detected in the construction field with a net weighted balance of 55.8%, followed by the agriculture, hunting, and forestry sector of 55.7% and the manufacturing industry of 48.9%,” he specified in the press release earlier today (21/10).

However, the new credit channelling in Q4 2021 is estimated to proliferate from Q3 2021 with an indicative SBT of 90.9%. The main priorities for these credits consist of working capital, investment, and consumption. Meanwhile, most consumption credits are allocated to housing or apartment credit, followed by multipurpose and vehicle credits.

The credit distribution policy is also projected to be more relaxed compared to Q3 2021, as seen in the Standard Lending Index (ILS) that arrived at -0.4%. It was depleting from the rate in Q3 2021 of 2.0%. (LK/ZH)
