JAKARTA. PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk (UNVR) faced obstacles following the Community Activities Restriction Enforcement (PPKM) due to the COVID-19 case surge and the increased commodity price. These resulted in its sales and net profit in Q3 2021 depleted by 7.47% and 19.48%.

Ira Noviarti, President Director of Unilever Indonesia, still dubbed the third quarter of 2021 as a challenging period due to PPKM being actively enforced in several regions in the country. Another challenge is the continuously increasing commodity price that affected the company’s production level.

“Some of those challenges had influenced the consumers in their selection of consumption pattern across different categories, thus impacting the company’s growth level,” Noviarti explained in the press release yesterday (21/10).

UNVR Financial Report in September 2021 revealed that the revenue in Q3 2021 amounted to IDR 30.02 trillion, depleting 7.47% from the gain reported in the same period in 2020 of IDR 32.45 trillion. Food and beverage sales increased 6.20% from IDR 8.93 trillion to IDR 9.48 trillion, contrasting with household and body care product sales that decreased 12.94% to IDR 19.23 trillion from IDR 22.09 trillion. In the end, UNVR managed to score IDR 4.37 trillion in its profit, still 19.48% lower than IDR 5.43 trillion reported in Q3 2020. (AM/ZH)
