As of October, processing industry records exports of USD143.76 billion

JAKARTA - The processing industry recorded an export value of USD143.76 billion during January-October 2021, an increase of 35.53% compared to the same period last year of USD106.08 billion. The industrial sector contributed the most to 77.16% of the total national export value for eight months this year which reached USD186.32 billion.

“The manufacturing industry sector is still consistent in providing the largest contribution to the achievement of the national export value. This means that the industrial sector still has a high level of resilience to various global challenges, including the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic," said Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in Jakarta, Monday (15/11).

The Minister of Industry emphasized that the manufacturing industry sector has an important role in the formation of the structure of the national trade balance. In January-October 2021, the trade balance of the manufacturing sector showed a surplus of USD26.33 billion.

Referring to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the export value of the processing industry in October 2021 reached USD16.07 billion and contributed 72.94% of the total export value in the tenth month of this year which reached USD22.03 billion. The export value of the processing industry in October 2021 rose 3.61% compared to September 2021, and increased by 36.50% compared to the same period last year. (LM)
