JAKARTA – PT Cikarang Listrindo Tbk (POWR) invested USD 6 million to build a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) of 10 megawatt peak (MWp). Currently, the company has obtained the license to distribute electricity generated by solar power plants in five industrial zones managed by POWR.

Christanto Pranata, Corporate Secretary of Cikarang Listrindo, stated that the company intends to establish one solar power plant of 10 MWp per year. “The fund sources from this solar power plant project would be taken out of our internal cash,” he added, as stated in the public information disclosure on Friday (26/11).

According to Pranata, the capacity of 10 MWp of this solar power plant would be compared to conventional power plants, whose capacity could reach 1.1 gigawatts (GW). The gap has yet to be so wide. Thus, the impact would not be significantly felt in the near future.

It was further mentioned that the company’s scheme regarding the said project involves installing solar panels in the rooftops of users’ buildings. Then, the electricity generated from those panels would be sold to the users. “The provided scheme is not in the form of a lease because, for each owner of the solar panels, they should have licenses for their own rooftops as regulated by the government.
