JAKARTA. Indonesia’s import in November 2021 reached USD 19.33 billion, which was 18.62% higher monthly (MoM) and 52.62% yearly (year-on-year/yoy). Monthly, the consumption goods import recorded the highest growth of 25.89% or 53.48% yearly.

Margo Yuwono, Head of Indonesia Statistics (lit. Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS), claimed that monthly import activities kept showing inclinations. Until November 2021, the monthly import was always higher compared to 2020, save for January 2021. “All months reported increases but January. January 2021’s import was lower than January 2020,” he clarified in the press conference today (15/12).

Other than consumption goods, the most extensive contribution to this growth was given by raw materials/supporting goods import that jumped 16.41% from October 2021 and 60.49% yoy. The consumption goods import spent USD 2 billion, while raw/supporting goods import spent USD 14.33 billion.

“The increased imports in November, both monthly and yearly, in consumption and raw/supporting goods show improved domestic economic conditions. Import activities in consumption and supporting/raw materials also indicate that industry sectors have recovered and improved,” Yuwono added. (AM/ZH)
