Becakayu toll road is IDR 3.7 trillion away from completion

JAKARTA. The finishing of Section 2B of West Bekasi-Tambun of the Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu (Becakayu) toll route still requires funds of at least IDR 3.7 trillion. Once being wrapped up, the said toll road would be one of the divested routes.

Destiawan Soewardjono, President Director of Waskita Karya (WSKT), claimed that the government has prepared several options to help to fund Section 2B of Becakayu toll road.

Soewardjono also said that his company is looking for partners to aid the toll road construction. There is also a discussion with foreign investors, including Chinese ones, regarding the decision to divest some of the tolls. “It includes the Section 2B of West Bekasi-Tambun of Becakayu toll. However, Waskita is still struggling to wrap up the Section 2B due to funding issues,” he admitted this Friday (24/12).

According to Soewardjono, once the toll road has been completed, it would be immediately put into an offer for any investors to replace or share the position of WSKT in the Becakayu toll.

Aside from the Becakayu toll, WSKT would also offer four to five other toll roads to the investors, including Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), in 2022. Currently, Waskita Karya still manages 13 toll routes, seven of which are under construction processes. (AM/ZH)
