JAKARTA – Two sub-holdings of PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Pertamina NRE and PT Patra Niaga, partner with Grab Indonesia to enhance the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in Indonesia. This partnership will take effect during the 2022 G20 Summit in Bali in October 2022.

Dannif Danusaputro, Chief Executive Officer of Pertamina NRE, stated that the company develops an electric vehicle ecosystem through Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC). “This collaboration will accelerate EV ecosystem development in Indonesia,” he added in the press release quoted today (20/1).

Other than Pertamina NRE, other state-owned enterprises (BUMN) that participate in the IBC are PLN, MIND ID, dan Antam. They manufacture batteries, from the upstream to the downstream processes, targeting to generate 140 gigawatt-hours (GwH) by 2029.

Ridzki Kramadibrata, President of Grab Indonesia, claimed that Grab will help provide access to the market regarding the operation of electric vehicle fleets. “We are confident that the expansion of electric vehicles will generate positive effects to passengers, drivers, and environment sustainability, which are the focus of the company’s initiatives,” he explained.

Grab currently operates 8,500 units of electric vehicles, including GrabCar, GrabBike, and GrabFood, to support the battery-powered electric vehicles program (KBLBB). (LK/ZH)
