JAKARTA. PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) recorded net profit growth of 66.8% year-on-year (yoy) to IDR 28.03 trillion throughout the fiscal year 2021.

The said growth aligns with the national economic recovery that gains a lot of support from the Indonesian government. According to Darmawan Junaidi, President Director of BMR, this achievement was made possible by digital strategies implemented by the company.

“Throughout 2021, Bank Mandiri had actively implemented a digital transformation to attain the long-term goal and create a sustainable business growth,” Junaidi explained in an official release.

At the end of 2021, BMRI distributed credits of IDR 1,050.16 trillion. The credit distribution in 2021 reportedly grew 5.2% yoy.

The corporate credits were still the most extensive contributor of BMRI’s credit channelling in 2021, amounting to IDR 370 trillion, climbing 8% yoy. Meanwhile, the commercial credits jumped 9.7% yoy to IDR 174 trillion, followed by MSME (Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises) credits of 15% to IDR 103.5 trillion and the People Business Credits (lit. Kredit Usaha Rakyat/KUR) of IDR 35 trillion.

The non-performing loan (NPL) ratio of BMRI by the end of 2021 slightly dropped by 48 basis points (bps) to 2.81%. Fortunately, BMRI also managed to increase its coverage ratio by up to 2,662 bps to 261.5%. (KR/ZH)
