JAKARTA. PT Damai Bersaudara Tbk (KAYU) revealed that its export in 2021 reached 1,030 m3, despite the export difficulties faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nanang Sumartono Hadiwidjojo, President Director of KAYU, explained that the company still attempted to arrange exports in 2021, although the pandemic spread in South Asia affected the export costs.

“All the while, we experienced a massive surge in the container lease price, triggered by the shortage of containers in the departure and destination ports,” Hadiwidjojo further explained in the official release earlier today (15/2).

However, KAYU managed to optimise export sales this year. As of February 15, 2022, the export sales volume reached 379.28 m3, comprising 122.2 m3 in January and 257.08 m3 from February 1 to 15, 2022.

For the record, export sales are the biggest contributor to KAYU’s revenue. According to the official statement by the company, the international market brought in 90% of the total sales, while the remaining 10% came from the domestic market. (KR/ZH)
