Expanding vehicle charging stations, PLN offers partnerships with private companies

JAKARTA. PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) welcomes opportunities to form partnerships with private parties to accelerate the expansion of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (lit. Stasiun Pengisian Kendaraan Listrik Umum/SPKLU) in Indonesia.

Agung Murdifi, Executive Vice President of Corporate Communication and CSR of PLN, said that 104 units of chargings stations is has been running in 38 cities. In 2022, Murdifi stated that PLN plans to establish another 40 units in various cities.

In order to speed up the charging station expansion, Murdifi had asked private companies to take part as the providing partner for these stations. Through this partnership program, the private companies may participate as donors for the electric vehicle charging facility, property, or maintenance service.

“Thus, this business has good prospects. We are urging business owners to participate in establishing SPKLU in the partnership model based on revenue sharing, with a sharing economy model,” Murdifi explained in the official release.

Murdifi claimed that the interest of the public towards electric vehicles in Indonesia kept increasing. He said that electric car sales in 2020 proliferated 46%, contrasting to conventional car sales that dropped 14%.

“Looking at these opportunities, PLN asked all interested parties to utilise this business niche,” Murdifi further added. (KR/ZH)
