Consumer optimism remains strong in February 2022

10 March 2022 09:18

JAKARTA - The Bank Indonesia Consumer Survey in February 2022 indicated that consumer confidence remained strong and was in the optimistic area. This is reflected in the Consumer Confidence Index[1] (IKK) in February 2022 of 113.1 (index > 100), although lower than 119.6 in January 2022.

Erwin Haryono, Head of the Communications Department of Bank Indonesia said, "Consumer confidence in February 2022, which was not as high as the previous month, was caused by expectations of more limited future economic conditions, both expectations of income, job availability and business activities, although still in the optimistic area."

At the same time, consumers perceive that the current economic condition is not as expected, allegedly in line with the increasing number of Covid-19 cases and stricter implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in various regions in Indonesia. (LM)
