JAKARTA - PT Avia Avian Tbk. (AVIA), a leading decorative paint producer in Indonesia, recorded positive performance growth until the end of 2021. As of December 2021, AVIA managed to record a net profit of IDR1.4 trillion, an increase of 26% as compared to the same period in 2020 of IDR1.1 trillion. This achievement is supported by efforts in controlling costs and in sustainable efficiencies that are supported by operational excellence of the Company in producing raw materials internally, as well as consistently committed to implementing sustainable Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) business practices in its operational activities.
Wijono Tanoko as the President Director of AVIA said, "We are grateful for being able to overcome difficult times in 2021, as evidenced by the Company’s achievement in recording revenue of IDR6.8 trillion or an 18% growth as compared to the previous year. Such increase results from various efforts made by the Company, among which is new product innovations to meet the various needs of dynamic market trends. In addition, we also continue to strive in implementing sustainable business practices by using more environmentally friendly raw materials as well as gas fuel and solar power.”
AVIA believes that implementing sustainable business principles may further encourage better business performance in the future. This is also in line with the increasing number of global investors who are paying more attention to ESG aspects as a factor in selecting their investment portfolio. Therefore, AVIA has taken into account the impacts of production processes on the community as well as on the surrounding environment. For this reason, in its operational activities, AVIA has used gas-fuelled incinerators that are more environmentally friendly. This machine may reduce air pollution from the solvent of printing ink thinners. The heat generated by this machine may be used as dryer for prints and is also able to burn the released solvent vapours to be cleaner so that the surrounding community is not affected by the steams or by the pungent smell from the factory.
Furthermore, Wijono explained that the use of an incinerator also helps in reducing the effect of greenhouse gases as it is able to reduce emissions by using gas as fuel, so that the resulting carbon footprint is also reduced. (LM)
