JAKARTA - PT Nusantara Pelabuhan Handal Tbk (PORT) recorded an increase in revenue of 2.2% YoY to Rp1.3 trillion in FY21 driven by an upsurge in container loading and unloading activities throughout 2021. Domestic container loading and unloading volume at PORT-managed terminals increased by 18.6% in 2021.

The increase in Domestic container loading and unloading activities carried out by the Company is much higher when compared to the increase in loading and unloading activities throughout Tanjung Priok Port, which is around 14.3%. This demonstrates an increase in PORT's market share at the domestic terminal of the largest port in Indonesia, Tanjung Priok. The increase in the PORT market share in the domestic terminal is one of the factors supporting the increase in revenue performance in 2021 in the port services segment to Rp 1.2 trillion or, up 8.51% compared to revenue at the end of 2020.

The President Director of PORT, Paul Krisnadi, stated "Traffic loading and unloading of domestic containers has not decreased since the pandemic, in fact it has increased by around 10% in 2021 compared to 2020. This shows that domestic economic activities during the pandemic are running quite smoothly. Throughout 2021, the Company continued to focus on increasing efficiency and controlling operating costs and continuing to improve the quality of service to customers to ensure that throughput can be maintained in the face of various challenges. And with the success of the efficiency efforts carried out by the Company throughout its business lines, PORT managed to maintain direct costs at Rp1.1 trillion, the same as the achievement at the end of 2020, so that Gross Profit increased 23% to Rp 201 billion compared to Rp 163 billion in 2020.”

For information, Operating Profit was successfully maintained at around Rp 30 billion in 2021, while Loss for the Year was at Rp 83 billion in 2021. This was mainly due to a foreign exchange loss in 2021 of Rp 43 billion, where in 2020 there was a gain in foreign exchange of Rp 43 billion. Rp 12 billion of which was recorded by the Company. (LM)
