JAKARTA. The Statistics Indonesia (lit. Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) notices that the export in Q1 2022 reached USD 66.14 billion, 35.35% higher than the same period last year, which was stuck at USD 48.90 billion. This increased export value is fueled by the manufacturing industry.

Margo Yuwono, Head of BPS, confirmed that the manufacturing industry sector contributed the most to the export value from January 2022 to March 2022. It dominated with 76.37% of the total export value.

According to Yuwono, the manufacturing industry export in Q1 2022 clocked up to USD 50.52 billion, shifting 29.68% compared to the same period in 2021 of USD 38.95 billion. Another major contribution to the export value came from the mining and other sector generating USD 11.17 billion and covering 16.90% of the total export. “The said sector soared 78.65% year-on-year (yoy),” he added in the March 2022 export performance expose yesterday (18/4).

On the contrary, the oil and gas sector only took up 4.99% of total export, amounting to USD 3.30 billion. However, it still experienced 24.46% surge from the export recorded in Q1 2021 of USD 2.65 billion. (AM/ZH)
