INCO saw a decline in production by 9% in Q1 2022

JAKARTA – PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (INCO), a nickel producer, reported a 9% downturn in the lead production in Q1 2022 compared to the same period last year. Febriany Eddy, Chief Executive Officer of INCO, relayed the news in the information disclosure quoted Wednesday (20/4).

According to Eddy, the production decrease is caused by the reconstruction of Tanur 4, an operational facility maintenance project that aims to ensure the safety and sustainability of the business. “The company generated 13,827 metric tons of nickel in matte in Q1 2022,” she announced.

In the same period last year, the company recorded nickel production of 15,198 metric tons. Furthermore, the nickel production level in Q1 2022 was also seen shrinking 19% compared to Q4 2021 of 17,015 metric tons.

Despite the production slipping at the beginning of the year, Eddy is confident that its annual production plan and target will still be achieved by the end of the year. (LK/ZH)
