JAKARTA - PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) posted a brilliant performance in the first quarter of this year. The Group's consolidated net profit in the first quarter of 2022 was IDR 71.9 trillion, an increase of 39% compared to the first quarter of 2021.
The Group's net profi increased 84% to Rp6.9 trillion, reflecting the better performance of all of the Group's businesses, in particular, the heavy equipment and mining divisions, automotive, financial services and agribusiness.
“The Group posted a good performance in the first quarter of 2022, supported by the domestic economic recovery and higher commodity prices. Although the pandemic situation has improved, the Group is expected to continue to face uncertainty from COVID-19 and other external challenges. However, supported by its strong financial position, the Group is well positioned to seek new business opportunities to drive long-term sustainable growth,” said Djony Bunarto Tjondro, President Director of ASII.
The increase in net profit was supported by all of the company's business lines. The automotive business line recorded a net profit of Rp2.23 trillion, financial services Rp1.47 trillion, heavy equipment Rp2.58 trillion, agribusiness Rp385 billion, infrastructure Rp118 billion, information technology Rp12 billion and property Rp53 billion.
