JAKARTA. The 8% revenue growth in the data segment of PT XL Axiata Tbk (EXCL) lead to an IDR 5.91 trillion contribution, covering 96% of its total revenue in Q1 2022 of IDR 6.75 trillion. Out of this revenue, the company managed to squeeze out net profit of IDR 139 billion.

Dian Siswarini, President Director and CEO of XL Axiata, mentioned that this result was possible due to its effort to enhance the customer experience and undergo digitalisation, which was backed by the consistent network quality improvement. “Therefore, the customer experience enhancement now becomes one of XL Axiata’s focuses in driving the company’s performance,” she concluded in the written statement yesterday (10/5).

According to Siswarini, this strategy is deemed the most effective to face the ever-fierce business competition instead of continuing to respond to service tariff wars. In Q1 2022, the data traffic of XL Axiata was seen magnified by 34% year-on-year (yoy), from 1,391 petabytes to 1,857 petabytes. It went hand in hand with better customer experience, which resulted from strengthening the user throughput and fixing latency during the said timespan.

The increased traffic was supported by the improvement of 4G Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) in quantity to 83 thousand units at the end of March 2022, bringing the total 2G and 4G BTS to over 133 thousand units. The 4G coverage is also extended to 460 cities/regencies. (AM/ZH)
