Jababeka and two foreign companies to develop a biotechnology lab

JAKARTA. PT Kawasan Industri Jababeka Tbk and two foreign companies, Tapestry Companies LLC and Quest Group Inc, have signed the cooperation agreement regarding the establishment of a biotechnology laboratory and an incubator project for medical products in the said industrial zone. This biotechnology lab is estimated to take up USD 25 million of investment.

Rudy Subrata, General Manager of Industrial Sales dan Marketing of Jababeka; Richard Lim, President Director of Quest Group; and representatives of Tapestry Companies formally signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) themselves, as mentioned in the press release of Jababeka yesterday (11/5).

Quest Group is a corporate based in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. Meanwhile, Tapestry Companies is a Japanese company. Both of them stated their commitment to aid in developing a biotechnology lab and an incubator project.

Business players consider this collaboration to be able to add positive values in biotechnology-based industry development, particularly in medical devices and products that are high in demands. Furthermore, Charles Saerang, the herbal and traditional medicine expert, claimed that there should be a support for this biotechonology zone development in Jababeka Industrial Zone in order to create additional values and open up new working opportunities for workers in Indonesia.
