Indosat and a Chinese company to build a data centre, expending IDR 3.3 trillion

JAKARTA. PT Indosat Tbk (ISAT), through its subsidiary, PT Starone Mitra Telekomunikasi (SMT), and a China-based company, BDX Asia Data Center Hodings Pte Ltd, join forces to establish a data centre, estimating expenditure of approximately IDR 3.3 trillion.

In the information disclosure in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) yesterday (12/5), Billy Nicholas Simanjuntak, Corporate Secretary of Indosat, mentioned that this collaboration had been finalised following the signing of a conditional sale and purchase agreement and a joint venture contract by its subsidiaries, PT Aplikanusa Lintasarta and SMT, and the Chinese data centre company, BDX Asia Data Center Holdings Pte Ltd last Thursday (12/5).

Into this contract will be added several commercial and operational agreements, which will allow interested parties to work together to transform this joint venture into a leading data centre company in Indonesia.

Previously, President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchisom, Vikram Sinha, had also claimed that Indosat will continue to focus on becoming the leading telecommunication provider in the future and offering cellular services that will fuel Indonesia’s digital transformation widely. (AM/ZH)
