BNI to form a venture capital, investing IDR 500 billion

JAKARTA. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI), also known as BNI, recently established a new subsidiary engaged in the venture capital business with the initial investment of IDR 500 billion.

This new subsidiary is called PT BNI Modal Ventura. With the said amount of investment, BNI controls 99.98% of BNI Modal Ventura’s shares, while another 0.02% goes to PT BNI Asset Management.

“The establishment of BNI Modal Ventura will bring forth positive impacts on the consolidated performance and positioning of BNI,” Mucharom, Corporate Secretary of BNI, claimed in the official announcement.

On the same occasion, Mucharom also revealed that the capital investment made by BNI in BNI Modal Ventura had been approved by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) on Aril 25, 2022. “It has been allocated in the 2022 Bank Business Plan of BNI,” Mucharom added.

For the record, BNI has indeed planned the establishment of another subsidiary in the venture capital sector since 2019. Ahmad Baiquni, President Director of BBNI at that time, expected the venture capital business to enhance and complete the business, as well as positively contribute to the company’s financial performance.
