Semantok Dam targets impounding at the end of June 2022

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is completing the final stage of the construction of the Semantok Dam as part of the government's efforts to strengthen water and food security in Nganjuk Regency, East Java. As one of the National Strategic Programs, the construction of the Semantok Dam has reached 90% and is targeted to start impounding at the end of June 2022.

The construction of the Semantok Dam was carried out by the Brantas River Basin (BBWS), Directorate General of Water Resources, Ministry of PUPR through 2 work packages, namely package 1 by the implementing contractor PT. Brantas Abipraya - PT Pelita Nusa Perkasa, KSO, and package 2 cooperated with PT Hutama Karya - PT Bahagia Bangunnusa, KSO with a value of IDR1.17 trillion.

The Semantok Dam has been under construction since December 2017 with an upright core zonal type which has a height of 38.5 meters and a peak length of 3,100 meters. With the completion of the Semantok Dam, it will add to the list of dams in East Java, including the Tukul Dam in Pacitan Regency, Tugu Dam in Trenggalek Regency, Bendo Dam in Ponorogo Regency, and Gongseng Dam in Bojonegoro Regency.
