JAKARTA. PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk (ENRG), an energy manufacturer company under Bakrie Group, will boost gas production in the Bentu Block in order to increase the supply for PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).

Syailendra S. Bakrie, President Director of ENRG, said that currently, through one of its subsidiaries, EMP Bentu Limited, ENRG has secured a gas sale-and-purchase contract with PLN Pekanbaru. The gas channelled out by EMP Bentu to PLN Pekanbaru will reach 30 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD).

“EMP Bentu is asked to produce gas of up to 40 MMSCFD for PLN,” Bakrie added in the official announcement.

The increase of gas production of EMP Bentu began in 2021 following the completion of two drilled wells and one gas exploratory well. This year, the company adds one development well and one exploratory well. Soon, it will also establish two exploratory wells this year.

For the record, the gas supply of EMP Bentu will be channelled to PLN through the gas pipe network owned by PT Medco Ratch Power Riau (MRPR) in Pekanbaru. In addition to PLN, EMP Bentu also sells its gas production to PT Pertamina (Persero) and PT Riau Andalan Pulp & Paper. (KR/ZH)
