JAKARTA - The opportunity for the development of the chemical industry in the country is very wide open. The large domestic market for chemical materials and goods, supported by ease of regulation in investing, makes it possible for investors in chemical industry companies to develop their business in Indonesia.

In a series of working visits to Japan, the Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita held a meeting with the largest chemical companies in Japan, namely AGC Inc., Mitsubishi Chemical Group, and KAO Chemical. The three companies have existed and developed in Indonesia for many years.

"The Ministry of Industry is committed to continuing to support the chemical industry in the form of availability of raw materials and affordable industrial gas prices. We hope that Japanese chemical companies in Indonesia can maximize their utilization and increase competitiveness in order to expand the export market," said the Minister of Industry in Tokyo, Japan, Tuesday (28/6).

Agus said, in an effort to boost the competitiveness of the national industry, the government has taken a number of strategic steps, including facilitating the provision of fiscal incentives such as tax allowances, tax holidays and super deduction taxes. Moreover, the chemical industry is one of seven sectors that are development priorities according to the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap. (LM)
