JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry is committed to continuing to support the development of national industries that are globally competitive. This is in line with efforts to make Indonesia a formidable industrial country. One of the strategic steps taken is through the provision of vocational education and training by the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI).
Some time ago, the Ministry of Industry's BPSDMI held an Opening Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) at the new higher education unit, namely the Banten Petrochemical Industry Polytechnic.
The establishment and licensing of the Banten Petrochemical Industry Polytechnic has gone through a long process until it officially gets permission from the relevant Ministry in 2022. “In the long journey of obtaining this permit, the Ministry of Industry has also always received support from the Olefin, Aromatic and Plastic Industry Association, Petrochemical Industry, and Regional Government in Banten," said Head of the Ministry of Industry's BPSDMI, Arus Gunawan in Jakarta, Wednesday (14/9).
The establishment of the Banten Petrochemical Industry Polytechnic is one of the efforts of the Ministry of Industry to meet the needs of products and labor needs in the petrochemical industry sector by utilizing regional potential, especially in Cilegon City, Banten Province. "The petrochemical industry is an upstream industrial sector that produces various important chemical products and materials which are the primary raw materials to support the commercial operations of the automotive, machinery, electronics, construction, household applications and other industries," said Arus.
The need for labor in the petrochemical industry in Banten Province has now reached 2,800 people. This has prompted the Ministry of Industry to work closely with local industry associations and partners to establish polytechnics whose graduates will be directly absorbed by industry. (LM)
