JAKARTA. The car sales of Astra Group reached 357,443 units until the end of last August 2022, shifting 23.5% year-on-year (yoy) from 289,509 units recorded in the same period last year.
Boy Kelana Soebroto, Head of Corporate Communications of PT Astra International Tbk (ASII), expected this positive trend of car sales to continue until the end of this year. “So, we can accelerate the recovery of Indonesia’s automotive industry,” he added in the official disclosure.
Astra’s car sales until this August were still dominated by Toyota and Lexus, which clocked up to 210.354 units. Then, Daihatsu cars followed with 121,617 units sold, surpassing Isuzu cars of 23,938 units, UD Trucks of 1,186 units, and Peugeot of 348 units.
Approximately 83,362 units of sold Astra cars were low-cost green cars (LCGC), representing 76% of the LCGC market share until August 2022.
Based on idnfinancials.com data, Astra’s car sales in 2021 were rounded up to 489,209 units. In other words, Astra’s total car sales until August 2022 had reached 73% of the total car sales last year. (KR/ZH)
