JAKARTA - Indonesia invites South Korea to collaborate in the development of the 12 kilometer Fatmawati - TMII MRT Phase 4.

As reported by Bisnis, the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi offered South Korea to participate in the project on the sidelines of the "28th ASEAN Transport Minister Meeting" yesterday (17/10).

"We really hope that South Korea can participate in the development of MRT Jakarta Phase 4 and repeat the good cooperation that had previously existed in the development of the first phase of the Jakarta LRT," said the Minister of Transportation quoted from Bisnis.

Today, the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation (DJKA Kemenhub) also held a meeting with the K-Consortium, a South Korean-made consortium created to follow up on the proposed construction of the MRT Jakarta Phase 4.

There are three route proposals that were reviewed in the initial study of MRT Jakarta Phase 4, namely option I from Soekarno Hatta Airport - Jakarta International Stadium, option II from Pondok Gede - Joglo and option III from TMII - Fatmawati.

Director of Railway Traffic and Transportation Risal Wasal said that MRT Jakarta Phase 4 will be built with the East-West corridor and is planned to be integrated with the previously built North-South corridor.

According to Risal, the most feasible route is Fatmawati - TMII because it has the fewest obstacles and passes through many community centers. MRT Jakarta Phase 4 will later be built both elevated and underground. (LM)
