Economists believe Blibli will survive incoming recession

07 November 2022 07:31

JAKARTA. Center of Economic and Law Studies (Celios) believes that the initial public offering (IPO) of Blibli has a particular advantage that will allow them to stand strong amidst the recession.

In said IPO, Blibli is estimated to gain IDR 7.9 trillion of fresh funds, IDR 5.5 trillion of which will be allocated to improve its capital structure and restructure its debts.

Muhammad Andri Perdana, one of the experts in Celios, claimed that this debt restructuring and capital structure enhancement will increase Blibli’s flexibility in assets management. “It includes the possibility of future dividend distribution to its investors,” he added.

On top of this, Perdana noticed Blibli’s competitive business model that resembles the ones of Amazon, Alibaba, and Rakuten. The omnichannel business model, which has been adopted by those three giant e-commerce companies, is deemed quite attractive as it provides easy access for its users.

Perdana highlighted how Amazon, Alibaba, and Rakuten are engaged in diverse business sectors, making them relatively resilient amidst challenging economic situations. “The flourishing business sector may cover other sectors that are economically affected. While one struggles, the others will rise,” he explained.

As informed in idnfinancials.com previously, Blibli will be officially publicly listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on November 8, 2022.

As of June 2022, Blibli recorded revenue surge of 127 year-on-year (yoy) to IDR 2.99 trillion. Meanwhile, its net profit arrived at IDR 560.8 billion. Its Total Processing Value (TPV) in 2021 reportedly clocked up to IDR 32.4 trillion, soaring 45% from IDR 22.4 trillion in 2020. (KR/ZH)
