JAKARTA - The House of Representatives of Indonesia (DPR RI) has approved the additional State Equity Participation (PMN) of IDR 3.2 trillion for PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) (Persero). This additional capital is expected to optimise KAI's role in the consortium of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) that handles the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway Project (KCJB).

In the conclusion reached during the Working Meeting of Commission V of DPR RI and Vice Minister II of BUMN quoted today (24/11), Aria Bima, Vice Chairman of Commission VI of DPR RI, mentioned that the source of this domestic investment is the investment reserves of the 2022 State Budget regarding the cost overrun portion designed for this KCJB project. "KAI has completed the audit conducted by the Financial and Development Supervisory Board (BPKB) and the Committee of KCJB project regarding the cost overrun of KCJB," he stated.

The Ministry of BUMN is urged to ensure the timely completion of the KCJB project by June 2023 with this additional investment to KAI worth IDR 3.2 trillion. On top of this, the costs must be precise so that it will not lead to another cost overrun, and the project may be carried out with the highest quality and effectiveness.

For the record, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, Vice Minister II of BUMN, and his staffs was seen attending the working meeting. (LK/ZH)
