JAKARTA - Economic growth in 2022 was recorded at 5.31%, the highest in the last five years. This achievement accelerated after a deficit of 2.07% in 2020 and recovered to 5.01% in 2021.

In a release from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) quoted on Tuesday (7/2), Indonesia's economic growth was above China with 3%, South Korea (South Korea) 2.6%, and the European Union 3.6%, and the United States (US) 2.1%.

Economic growth in 2022 is the highest achievement in the era of President Joko Widodo since 2014. In 2013, national economic growth was recorded at 5.56%. Afterwards or in 2014 the performance of economic growth slumped to 5.01% until a rebound in 2022.

The business sector with the highest growth was recorded in transportation and warehousing 19.87%, accommodation and food and beverage 11.97%, and other services 9.47%. This growth was triggered by an increase in people's mobility, foreign and domestic tourist visits. (LK/LM)
