JAKARTA. PT AKR Corporindo Tbk (AKRA) is targeting to collect an investment worth a total of IDR 246.76 trillion in Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate (JIIPE) Special Economic Zone (SEZ) within the next five years.

Suresh Vembu, Director and Corporate Secretary of AKRA, claimed that several investors have paid visits and conducted relevant studies in JIIPE. However, their names can yet to be disclosed.

“There are many investors that had paid visits to JIIPE. Hopefully, we can reach agreement this year,” Vembu said, as quoted by Bisnis Indonesia.

The sector from which AKRA expects to secure investments is capital-intensive industry. It includes electric vehicles, batteries, electronic, and other industries that need optimal efficiency.

This year, AKRA aims to score marketing sales of 70 to 75 hectares of land by the end of this year. For comparison, in 2022, the company recorded marketing sales of 45 hectares of land.

JIIPE had reportedly secured investment commitment form PT Freeport Indonesia as the primary tenant in JIIPE SEZ. Furthermore, Freeport Indonesia is currently building a copper smelting facility, which is claimed to be the biggest copper smelting plant in the world. (KR/ZH)
