JAKARTA - The volume of foreign trade increased dramatically to double the usual rate on Tuesday, February 28. Foreign purchase volume totalled 4.28 billion shares, while foreign sales totaled 4.79 billion. The daily net volume was -507,716,900 shares, with February's net foreign volume closing at -9.17 billion shares. The highest sales volume this time came from PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO), whose shares were sold for as many as 2.03 billion pieces with a net volume of -546.86 million. Meanwhile, foreigners purchased the most shares from PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI), at 254.89 million, with the highest net volume of 194.74 million shares.

Foreign investors are also interested in the shares of PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk (ENRG). More than 151 million ENRG shares were purchased, even though the net volume was only 31.81 million shares. PT Astrindo Nusantara Infrastruktur Tbk (BIPI) reported a significant net volume of 60.65 million shares, as did PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk (FREN) with 53 million shares. These figures were from foreign investors purchasing 68.03 million BIPI shares and 70,84 million FREN shares. Furthermore, foreign shareholders also purchased 38.52 million shares of PT Metro Healthcare Indonesia Tbk (CARE), bringing the net volume to nearly 24 million shares.

However, several issuers' shares were sold in large quantities. Foreign investors sold 352.41 million shares of PT Bank Jago Tbk (ARTO) for a net volume of -108.51 million. They also let go of 237.45 million shares of PT MNC Kapital Indonesia Tbk (BCAP), bringing the net volume to -63.50 million. The stock exchange also listed the sales of 204 million shares of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) and 51.6 million shares of PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM), resulting in a net volume of around minus 35 million shares for both issuers.
