JAKARTA - Tuesday, May 16, still saw a high volume of foreign exchange transactions. In contrast to the 3.62 billion shares that were sold, 3.34 billion shares were bought by foreign investors. The result was that the net foreign volume was negative by up to 278.95 million shares. The shares of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO), a company that provides on-demand services, once again exceeded all other shares in terms of net volume, with 406.69 million shares, for a total purchase of 2.06 billion. In the meantime, foreigners sold 198.51 million shares of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA), a company engaged in the aviation industry, making its net volume the lowest at -189.55 million.

Following GIAA, PT Global Mediacom Tbk (BMTR), an issuer of subscription-based media, had a net volume of around -125.38 million shares after foreign investors sold 145.95 million shares. Not to be outdone, 146.48 million shares of PT Bukalapak.com Tbk (BUKA) were also released from foreign control, but the net volume was only down about -69.55 million shares. Additionally, PT Surya Citra Media Tbk (SCMA), a television media company, and PT Ace Hardware Indonesia Tbk (ACES), which issues appliances, reported negative net volumes of between 31 and 32 million shares, as 45.88 million SCMA shares, and 79.21 million ACES shares were sold by foreign investors.

On the other hand, foreign investors actually purchased about 60 million shares of the national bank PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) and palm oil issuer PT Nusantara Sawit Sejahtera Tbk (NSSS). The two issuers, however, reported very different net volumes. In contrast to BBRI, which had a net volume of only about 19.64 million pieces, NSSS had a relatively high net volume of 59.88 million. Following that, 20.37 million shares of gold jewelry issuer PT Hartadinata Abadi Tbk (HRTA) were also sold, bringing the net volume to 17.88 million shares. Finally, 16.89 million shares of PT Merdeka Battery Materials Tbk (MBMA), representing a net volume of about 13.42 million shares, were dumped by foreigners. (KD)
