JAKARTA - The number of foreign purchases of Indonesian stocks on Wednesday, May 24, decreased slightly from the day before, though it was still outstanding. Around 3.99 billion shares were bought overall, and 2.08 billion shares were sold. Foreign net volume did, however, rise, reaching 1.9 billion, or 1,907,579,900 shares to be exact. PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO), which had its purchase volume increase to 2.40 billion shares, remained the company with the highest net foreign volume, at 1.65 billion.

Following that, 51.79 million shares of PT Astrindo Nusantara Infrastruktur Tbk (BIPI), an oil and gas issuer, were purchased by foreign investors as well, for a net volume of 47.88 million shares. Home appliance issuer PT Ace Hardware Indonesia Tbk (ACES), which had 60.15 million of its shares also claimed by foreign investors, came in next with a net volume of 41.53 million shares. Both the national bank, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI), and the hospital operator, PT Metro Healthcare Indonesia Tbk (CARE), reported a net volume of approximately 39 million shares. Nevertheless, 126.77 million BBRI were purchased compared to 41.74 million CARE, which is quite a significant difference.

However, PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (BNBR), a manufacturing and infrastructure issuer, saw foreigners selling 47.31 million shares without making a sizeable number of purchases, resulting in BNBR's net volume being the lowest at -44.45 million. Shares of construction and concession issuer PT Wijaya Karya Bangunan Gedung Tbk (WEGE) were released by foreigners in a volume of 35.70 million shares, with a net volume of nearly -35 million shares.

This time, foreigners also released quite a large volume of PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) shares, totaling 63.52 million shares; the net volume was believed to be around -31.93 million shares. A television media company named PT Surya Citra Media Tbk (SCMA) reported sales of 38.02 million by foreign investors with a net volume of -27.55 million shares. Finally, because foreigners also released 27.32 million of its shares, nickel producer PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk (NCKL) reported a net foreign volume of minus 18.49 million. (KD)
