JAKARTA. Bank BNI President Director Royke Tumilaar is quite a phenomenal figure. With his leadership, the oldest bank has implemented a sustainable financial strategy so that it is able to record continuously increasing performance. For his leadership role, Royke Tumilaar was awarded as The Best CEO of The Most Sustainable Bank by Tempo.co and IDNFinancials.com, last weekend at the Sofitel Nusa Dua Resort, Bali.

Royke, who started serving as President Director of Bank BNI on September 2 2020, only needed 15 months to create a performance level that tripled with a net profit achievement from IDR 3.28 trillion in 2020, to IDR 10.31 trillion in 2021. Net profit continued to reach its latest high of IDR 18.31 trillion in 2022 and it is predicted to reach more than IDR 20 trillion in 2023.

If we count Royke's leadership which started fullyin 2021, Bank BNI's performance in net profit is in accordance with the spirit created throughout 2021 with the theme: "Jumping Higher for the Country". This spirit marked Royke's leadership for 15 months since he was appointed as number one person at Bank BNI. Royke Tumilaar said that 2021 was a difficult year because the pandemic crisis was not over. National economic conditions were still experiencing contraction. "However, BNI remains focused on maintaining growth momentum by optimizing its profits and accelerating its digital transformation strategy, while demonstrating BNI's commitment to innovation and transformation," he said in a special interview with IDNFinancials.com some time ago.

Bank BNI President Director Royke Tumilaar also explained that the transformation strategy implemented had enabled BNI to survive in terms of profit and revenue growth, even in 2022, this performance could exceed the performance before the pandemic. "We can see that employees can transform work culture for the better," said Royke in a special interview with IDNFinancials.com.

As a commitment to sustainable financial programs, Bank BNI has also issued green banks in the domestic market with a total of IDR 5 trillion. These funds are meant to finance customers who have sustainability programs by providing incentives, namely with priority for financing corporations operating in the hydropower and solar power sectors.

Royke Tumilaar was awarded as The Best CEO of the Most Sustainable Bank, which also because Bank BNI has been proactive in helping the government in developing MSMEs. BNI provides assistance, development, financing and advisory programs so that MSMEs can have export opportunities. The Company is also proactive in maintaining environmental conditions, controlling emissions and managing energy in line with the Indonesian government's commitment in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Okki represented Royke who was unable to attend the awarding night. According to Okki, BNI's direct contribution is by providing financing to environmentally friendly sectors, complying with environmental regulations and improving environmental and social performance.

Okki's statement is in line with the strategy that Royke has conveyed before, that business should not only seek profit, but Bank BNI must also provide value for environmental responsibility (Environment), Social and Governance (ESG).

TOP CEO INDONESIA 2023 is a prestigious award for CEOs of Public Companies (Tbk) for their achievements and success in leading the company in financial aspects and impact on the environment (social impact).

This appreciation is given through a number of stages of data collection and research, including financial and company sustainability reports, as well as face-to-face or virtual interviews with the nominated CEOs.
