JAKARTA. CEO of PT Nippon Indosari Corpindo Tbk (ROTI), or familiarly known as Sari Roti, received an award as the Best CEO in Processed Grain Products. Wendy Yap, the figure behind Sari Roti, is considered triumphant in leading her company to survive and grow despite the pandemic by abiding by the company's commitment to ESG (environmental, social and governance) issues.

Before joining Sari Roti in 1998, Wendy Yap previously served as President Director of PT Wendy Citarasa, a company that holds the Wendy's international fast food franchise license in Indonesia. She is also known as a businesswoman who excels in the food sector.

Through her love of baking cakes and breads, accompanied by a reliable vision and sharp understanding of business, she pushes the company forward to continuously expand, both in terms of infrastructure and products, so that Sari Roti can maintain its popularity and market share among Indonesians.

As of now, Sari Roti offers various types of plain bread, sweet bread with different fillings, as well as its newest product, Sari Kue. This innovation continues to take place in order to meet market needs, assisted by its 14 factories located across Indonesia.

In 2022, Sari Roti reported sales of IDR 3.9 trillion, exceeding the figure recorded before the pandemic crisis. Even though 2020 was hampered by the pandemic, its net profit continued to grow, from IDR 168.1 billion in 2020 to IDR 283.6 billion in 2021, then soaring to IDR 432.25 billion in 2022.

With these achievements, as well as Sari Roti's future strategies, Wendy Yap deserves to be awarded the title of Best CEO in Processed Grain Products at the TOP CEO Awards 2023 last Friday.

The TOP CEO Awards 2023 event is the second collaborative event initiated by Tempo.co and IDNFinancials after successfully launching Index52 last June. This award is given to leaders of public companies as appreciation for their hard work in pushing their companies forward despite being knocked down by COVID-19 pandemic a couple of years ago.

It should be noted that as many as 43 CEOs from various industries reportedly received this prestigious award after going through a selection of company performance data and direct and virtual interviews. (ZH)
