JAKARTA. Volume of coal sales recorded by two subsidiaries of PT United Tractors Tbk (UNTR) increased approximately 15% year-on-year (yoy) as of November 2023, while gold production and heavy equipment declined.

Official data from the company’s website shows that coal production volume of its subsidiary, PT Pamapersada Nusantara (PAMA), reportedly went up 15.58% yoy higher, from 105.2 million tons to 121.6 million tons until November 2023. Similarly, overburden removal increased 24.4% yoy from 862.1 million bank cubic metre (bcm) to 1.07 billion bcm.

In the meantime, coal sales from another subsidiary of UNTR, PT Tuah Turangga Agung (TTA), consisting of thermal and metallurgical coals, also shifted 14.24% yoy positively to 10.45 million tons in November 2023 from the initial 9.15 million tons seen in November 2022.

In the gold mining field, UNTR’s subsidiary, PT Agincourt Resources reported from Metabe Mine, gold sales volume dropped 36.82% yoy within the first 11 months of 2023 to 166,468 gold equivalent ounces (GEOs), from the previous 263,492 GEOs in November 2022.

From its heavy equipment sector, Komatsu sales reached 5,061 units as of November 2023, declining 7.25% yoy from 5,457 units in November 2022. Market share of Komatsu in November 2023 was reported at 30%. Komatsu sales were generated by mining sector of 62%, construction sector of 17%, forestry sector of 12%, and agriculture sector of 9%.

Meanwhile, UNTR’s performance in general, until September 2023, indicated growth. Revenue was recorded at IDR 97.59 trillion, up 6.63% yoy from IDR 91.53 trillion. However, net profit attributable to the parent entity shrank 3% yoy to IDR 15.3 trillion from IDR 15.9 trillion due to swollen financial costs and increased loss on foreign exchange. (AM/ZH)
