JAKARTA - Foreign investors' purchases and sales of shares fell slightly on Friday, January 5, compared to the previous trading day. This can be seen by the foreign buying volume of 1.92 billion shares and the foreign selling volume of 1.71 billion shares. Despite the decrease, the net foreign volume remained surplus at 203.59 million shares.

The share purchase began with the purchase of 114.04 million shares of PT Astrindo Nusantara Infrastruktur Tbk (BIPI), an energy resources infrastructure business, resulting in a net volume of 105.95 million shares. Furthermore, foreign investors bought shares in three banks at the same time: PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI), PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI), and PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA). Foreigners bought 103.64 million BBRI shares with a net volume of 57.48 million shares, 95.03 million BMRI shares with a net volume of 54.59 million shares, and 64.96 million BBCA shares with a net volume of 45.54 million shares. The top-buy list concluded with the purchase of 43.90 million shares of rubber goods manufacturer PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk (GJTL), for a net volume of 34.04 million shares.

On the other hand, PT Fuji Finance Indonesia Tbk (FUJI) shares were sold for 122.20 million shares, and no shares were purchased, resulting in a negative net volume of the same number. Furthermore, the most sold shares belonged to the digital company PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO), which sold 220.64 million shares with a net volume of -72.77 million shares. Aside from that, shares of PT Avia Avian Tbk (AVIA), a paint and construction materials producer, were sold for roughly 47.53 million shares, with a net volume of -43.34 million shares. Foreign investors then sold 117.82 million shares of alcoholic beverage distributor PT Lovina Beach Brewery Tbk (STRK) and 26.64 million shares of automotive, financial services, heavy equipment, mining, agribusiness, infrastructure, and logistics company PT Astra International Tbk (ASII). The two transactions generated net volumes in the range of -18 million shares for each issuer. (KD)
