JAKARTA – Generali Indonesia launches Multi-stage Critical Illness Protection (MCI Pro), its newest insurance rider offering coverage for risks of critical illnesses with a unique approach: organ-based protection.

As explained by Edy Tuhirman, CEO of Generali Indonesia, during the Launch of MCI Pro today (21/3), the payment of critical illness claims increased 34.16% year-on-year (yoy) to over IDR 14 billion in 2023.

This organ-based health insurance product is designed to solve healthcare issues, including ever-evolving diseases, inflation, and higher medical expenses. "Current products may cover currently circulating diseases, but they may not be able to in the future," said Tuhirman.

MCI Pro provides coverage for illnesses that occurred based on affected organ system, such as cardiovascular, digestive, etc. Thus, this product does not limit the covered diseases by their numbers or names.

"This is the only product in Indonesia that offers organ-based coverage insurance," Tuhirman claimed. MCI Pro covers illnesses detected in 7 organ systems, as well as covering risks of terminal illnesses, even diabetes complications.

As this is an insurance rider, MCI Pro may be attached to BeSMART Link Ultima (MCI Pro Plus) and BeSMART Lite (MCI Pro 315). Total monthly premium may vary according to the base insurance product, starting from IDR 1 million to IDR 2.8 million.

For the record, both types will grant same benefits, including comprehensive protection from early-phase to catastrophic-stage critical illnesses. (ZH)
