JAKARTA. Mooryati Soedibyo, the founder of the renowned body care product company in Indonesia, PT Mustika Ratu Tbk (MRAT), has reportedly passed away at 96 years old.

Jodi Andrea Suryokusumo, Director & Corporate Secretary of MRAT, confirmed that Mooryati Soedibyo has passed on at 1 AM WIB today (24/4) at Menteng, Central Jakarta. According to the information from IDNFinancials, she will be buried in Bogor.

However, Suryokusumo added, this devastating news will not affect business and operational activities of MRAT. “We inform further that the daily business and operational activities of the company will continue to take place as usual,” he added in the information disclosure in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).

Born and raised in the royal family of Keraton Kasunanan Surakarta, Mooryati Soedibjo has a strong connection to Javanese culture and tradition. However, in 1947, Mooryati decided to walk out of the keraton family and married Soedibyo.

Out from the royal circle, Mooryati started to explore traditional medicine and beauty field, until in 1973, Mooryati began to establish Mustika Ratu with limited funding.

Until now, Mustika Ratu has its own production facility in East Jakarta and has been listed as a stock exchange member following its IPO in 1995. As of now, its market capitalisation is recorded at IDR 172.91 billion. (KR/ZH)
