JAKARTA – Bauxite mining company PT Cita Mineral Investindo Tbk (CITA) is targeting production of approximately 4.8 million wet metric tonnes (WMT) of metallurgical-grade bauxite (MGB) in 2025.

The target is largely unchanged from the 2024 realisation of 4.8 million tonnes. In addition, CITA is aiming for bauxite sales of up to 4.4 million WMT in 2025.

On the other hand, Yusak Lumba Pardede, President Director of CITA, acknowledged that alumina prices may face downward pressure in 2025 due to a global surplus, particularly following new production capacity coming online in Indonesia, India and China.

For reference, the average selling price of MGB reached USD 41.05 per dry metric tonne (DMT) in 2024, up slightly from USD 40.86 per DMT in 2023.

As of the first quarter of 2025, CITA’s sales declined 2.4% year-on-year to IDR 670.6 billion. However, net profit soared 161.8% to IDR 1 trillion.

Continuing the trend from the 2024 financial year, CITA’s net profit was bolstered by its share of earnings from its associate, PT Well Harvest Winning Alumina (WHW).

WHW, a producer of smelter-grade alumina (SGA), currently has a production capacity of 2 million tonnes. According to CITA’s 2025 Public Expose document, the company holds a 30% stake in WHW.

Based on CITA’s latest financial report, its share of net profit from WHW reached IDR 871.3 billion as of March 2025, up 153.8%.

CITA reported a 14.03% increase in total assets since the beginning of the year to IDR 9.1 trillion as of end-March 2025, with total equity rising to IDR 8.7 trillion and cash and cash equivalents amounting to IDR 2.3 trillion. (ZH)
