MIDI targets 120 new stores in 2025

TANGERANG – PT Midi Utama Indonesia Tbk (MIDI), the company operating the Alfamidi retail chain, plans to open 120 new stores throughout 2025.
This was conveyed by MIDI’s Property & Development Director, Liliek Setiabudi, during a press conference at Alfamart Tower, Tangerang, on Thursday (22/5).
“For the first half of 2025, we will open a total of 68 retail stores, consisting of 33 stores in the first quarter and 35 stores in the second quarter. For the third quarter, the target is currently set at 52 stores,” said Liliek.
At the same event, MIDI’s Corporate Secretary Director, Suantopo Po, added that the store growth of the Alfamidi Group in the first quarter of 2025 showed a positive performance.
As of the end of March 2025, the number of stores operated by MIDI had increased to 2,832, up by 23 stores since the end of 2023.
“This consists of 2,397 Alfamidi stores, 68 Alfamidi Super stores, 4 Midi Fresh stores, and 363 Lawson stores. However, for Lawson, 11 outlets were unfortunately closed,” said Suantopo.
According to Suantopo, the closures were due to unfavourable conditions around the locations.
“For example, developers predicted that occupancy rates in area A would reach a certain percentage within a year, but the reality fell short of expectations. As a result, we had to shut down the store in that area,” Suantopo added.
It is worth noting that MIDI recently divested 70% of its shares in PT Lancar Wiguna Sejahtera (LWS), the company managing Lawson stores in Indonesia. All of these shares were sold to PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk (AMRT), MIDI’s parent company. (DK/KR/ZH)
