JAKARTA – Statistics Indonesia (lit. Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) reported an inflation rate of 4.97% in March 2023, higher than 2.64% seen in March 2022. The inflation in March this year was also 0.18% higher than February 2023.

From the data published by BPS on Monday (3/4), the inflation has been seen declining since October 2022, which was recorded at 5.71% yoy, moving down from 5.95% reported in September 2022.

The oil fuel contributed 1.09% to the total yearly inflation, followed by rice of 0.35%, filter kretek cigarettes of 0.21%, flight tariff of 0.17% and household fuel of 0.15%.

Meanwhile, the monthly inflation resulted from flight tariff of 0.03%, oil fuel of 0.03%, rice of 0.02%, bird’s eye chili of 0.02%, and filter kretek cigarettes of 0.02%. (LK/ZH)
