JAKARTA - The Processing Industry's Business Field Performance (LU) is estimated to still grow with an index of 54.79% in the second quarter of 2023. In the first quarter of 2023, the Processing Industry's LU performance is 50.75%.

Erwin Haryono, Executive Director of the Department of Communication (BI) said that the processing industry's LU performance is still in the expansion phase. "In the previous quarter (quarter IV 2022), the manufacturing industry's LU performance was 50.06%," he said in a release quoted on Friday (14/4).

The increase in LU's performance was supported by all of its constituent components, including production volume, orders, and finished goods inventory. Referring to the subfields of business, the increase occurred in the tobacco processing industry, the machinery industry, and development equipment and transportation equipment.

In the second quarter of 2023, the increase in the manufacturing industry's LU performance was supported by all its constituent components, especially from the volume of finished goods inventory, number of workers, and production volume.

A number of manufacturing sub-sectors are expected to enter the expansion phase from the contraction phase previously, particularly in the furniture and rubber, rubber and plastic goods industries. Other business sub-fields that will improve are the paper and paper goods industry, printing and reproduction of recording media, the textile and apparel industry as well as the pharmaceutical chemical industry, and traditional medicine.
