JAKARTA - The Indonesian and German governments have reportedly signed two agreements, including the Joint Declaration of Intent on Joint Economic and Investment Committee and the Joint Declaration of Intent in The Feed of Digitalization. These bilateral contracts were officially signed during Joko Widodo’s visit to Hannover, Germany, yesterday (16/4).

In the press release quoted Monday (17/4), Retno Marsudi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that the President’s visit to Hannover has brought forward government-to-government deals regarding the formation of a convention of public and private sectors to discuss the improvement of joint economic and investment. “Another result includes the cooperation between the Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Informatics and the Germany’s Ministry of Digital and Transformation to support digital transformation,” she added.

In the business sector, there have been 18 agreements with a total estimated investment value of IDR 27.9 trillion. Those contracts cover various sectors, including sustainability, energy transition, investment, start-up innovations, as well as making the Indonesia 4.0.

Jokowi has reportedly paid a work visit to Germany, meeting Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the Minister-President of Lower Saxony Stephan Weil. (LK/ZH)
